Adult tennis tourney moves toward finals

The adult tennis event of the State Games of Mississippi got under way Saturday. The event finals feature several local players.
In the men's 30 singles, Darryl Jackson and Richard Barrington face each other for the title, while in the men's 35 singles, John Edwards and Anthony Adeosun will battle for the title. The men's 40 singles features Meridian's Craig Wells going up against Lee Mayo.
On the womens side, Helen Shirley and Meridians Ann Epps will do battle for the 30 singles title. Sherry Chickaway and Laura Bosard take each other on for the women's 35 singles title.
In doubles action, Chickway and Cathy McMillian will compete against Mary Alexander and Jill Mora. In the women's 30 doubles finals, both teams features Meridianites. Sharon Barham and Ann Epps join together to take on Teresa Davis and Judy Rutledge.
Action begins today at Northeast Park at 8 a.m.
