Meridian Community College increased their Lady Eagle softball roster by three, recently signing Ashley Colfield, Deanna Harris and Chellie McCardle to national letters of intent.
Cofield, from Enterprise, played both slow and fast pitch softball for Enterprise High School. She played infield in slow pitch and catcher in fast pitch.
"We plan to move her behind the plate," said MCC softball coach Robert Eakins. "She has the skills and quickness to play this position. With a little coaching and hard work, I think she will make the transition just fine, especially with the strong arm that she has."
Harris, who played at Meridian High, competed in both soccer and slow pitch softball for the Lady Wildcats. Last season, she played shortstop at MHS, "but we plan on moving her back to her natural position the outfield," Eakins said. "Because of her skills at this position, she will help our program tremendously."
McCardle played infield at Petal High School.
"We plan on keeping her at this position," said Eakins. "I've had the opportunity of watching her this year and she possesses work ethics. This is something that is a must for our program. She will fit in well here and do a great job for us."
