Local business leaders got an early tour Thursday of Rosenbaum Condominiums, currently under construction on Fifth Street in downtown Meridian.
Although most of the exterior remains hidden behind battered bricks and construction fences, those who toured were interested by the progress inside.
The luxury condos have sizable price tags. Some units with less than 1,500 square feet are selling for $210,000.
Buyers say it's not a bad price, considering the comfort and convenience of downtown living. The historic building is located directly across the street from The Grand Opera House of Mississippi.
Barbaree Heaster, developer, said several units have already sold and excitement and interest are building as time goes by.
Heaster said several business owners have been flirting with the idea of buying units to house corporate guests.
Once complete, the building will have 14 units.
O.L. Snowden and Sons Construction is handling the renovation. Owner Tim Snowden said the work is moving along.
Snowden said he hopes to have some of the units completed by the latter part of this year, and the entire project completed in the first quarter of 2002.
