OBITUARIES FOR MONDAY, JUNE 11, 2001

CLYDE K. MCMINN
Retired from Dr. Pepper bottler
Services for Clyde K. McMinn were to be held today at 10 a.m. at Webb Funeral Home Chapel with the Revs. Sam Hull and Davey Wilkinson officiating. Burial was to be in Magnolia Cemetery.
Mr. McMinn, 95, of Meridian, died Friday, June 8, 2001, at Benchmark Health Care Center. Mr. McMinn was active in his community. He was a member of the Optimist Club and East End Methodist Church.
Survivors include his wife, Carolyn Evans McMinn of Meridian; a son, Eddie Bob McMinn and his wife, Sylvia, of Lauderdale; a sister, Ann Fabre; two granddaughters, Melody Anderson and her husband, Steve, of Meridian and Candy Gordon and her husband, Perry; four great-grandchildren and several nieces and nephews.
The family requests memorials be sent to East End Methodist Church.
Pallbearers were Charles Godwin, Edward Stephens, Gene Weaver, Russell Boyette, Hugh Eggerton, Fred Eggerton and Bernard Pearson.
Honorary pallbearers were Harold Thompson, Charles Hudson and Will Ortlepp.
JOYCE ABERNETHY JONES

Services for Joyce Abernethy Jones were to be held today at 10 a.m. at Barham Funeral Home Chapel with the Rev. Dr. Raymon Leake officiating. Burial was to be in Forest Lawn Cemetery.
Mrs. Jones, 69, of Meridian, died Friday, June 8, 2001, at Jeff Anderson Regional Medical Center. She was a member of the First Baptist Church of Meridian.
Survivors include her husband, Owen D. Jones; two daughters, Joy Jones Peery and her husband, William "Sonny," of Meridian and Jan Jones Fisher and her husband, Gary, of Houston, Texas; two granddaughters, Jana Peery Flint and her husband, Jeremy of Birmingham, Ala. and Mary Lauren Fisher of Houston, Texas and a sister, Pat Abernethy Murphree of Austin, Texas.
She was preceded in death by her parents, Hosea and Mary Abernethy and a sister, Mary A. Semmes.
Pallbearers were be Jeremy Flint, James H. Jones, Bobby Jones, Ralph Semmes, Charles Jones, Jim Cady, Jack Jackson, Freddie Poitevent, Mike Jones and Charles Naylor. Honorary pallbearers were to be Deacons of the First Baptist Church.
The family requests memorials be made to the American Cancer Society or First Baptist Church Restoring for Tomorrow.
STELLA MAE JOBLIN

Services for Stella Mae Joblin will be held today at 1 p.m. at Barham Funeral Home Chapel with the Revs. Jerry Bishop, Mike Russell and Edsol Wells officiating. Burial will be in Kewanee Cemetery.
Mrs. Joblin, 91, of Lauderdale, died Saturday, June 9, 2001, in her home.
Survivors include two daughters, Bernice Mosher and her husband, Glen, and Shirley Adams and her husband, Bobby Sr., all of Lauderdale; four grandchildren, Linda Clayton and her husband, Cliff, of Lauderdale, Bobby Adams Jr. of Pontotoc, Billy Adams and his wife, Charlene, of Meridian and Odie Mosher of Atlanta; seven great-grandchildren; two brothers, Leonard Harrison of York, Ala. and R.C. Harrison of Citronelle, Ala.; her special friends at Sta-Home Hospice and Myrtle McDaniel.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Fred Joblin and a son-in-law, Coy McElhanney.
Pallbearers will be Cliff Clayton, Trey Clayton, Brian Smith, Bobby Adams Jr., Billy Adams, Bob Adams and Odie Mosher.
HORACE AUBURN KNIGHT

UNION Services for Horace Auburn Knight will be held today at 2 p.m. at County Line Baptist Church with the Revs. Stanley Barnett, Barron Pilgrim, Bobby Barfoot and Rusty Walton officiating. Burial will be in the church cemetery with Milling Funeral Home in charge of arrangements.
Mr. Knight, 91, of Union, died Saturday, June 9, 2001, in Meridian. He was a faithful member of County Line Baptist Church.
Survivors include his wife, O.V. Knight of Union; three sons, Joe Knight and his wife, Sandra, of Meridian, Jimmy Knight and his wife, Karen, of Union and Gary Knight and his wife, Azalea, of Port Gibson; six grandchildren, 11 great-grandchildren and several nieces and nephews.
Pallbearers will be Mark Knight, Jackie Knight, Gerald Knight, Donald Harris, Bobby Cleveland and Billy Knight.
SHARRON TAYLOR COVINGTON

Services for Sharron Taylor Covington will be held Tuesday at 10 a.m. at Barham Funeral Home Chapel with the Revs. Dr. Clarence Roberts and Jeff Hancock officiating. Burial will be in Prospect Presbyterian Church Cemetery.
Mrs. Covington, 44, of Meridian, died Friday, June 8, 2001, in Meridian. She was a member of the Salvation Army Church. Mrs. Covington was a graduate of Southeast Lauderdale.
Survivors include her husband, William Covington, a son, Will Covington, and her father, John P. Taylor, all of Meridian; three sisters, Vonnie Taylor Neal and her husband, Donny, of Benton, La., Shalesta Taylor Hollingsworth and her husband, Jamie, of Florence, Candise Taylor, a missionary in the Phillipines; a niece, Dea' Neal and a nephew, Trent P. Hollingsworth; and several other relatives and friends.
She was preceded in death by her mother, Mattie Merle Taylor and her stepmother, Marie Taylor.
Pallbearers will be Don Malone, George Gray, Edgar Wade Johnson, Richard Moody, Randy Skipper, Tommy Carney, Louis Covington and Tom Buckalew.
Visitation will be today from 5 p.m.-8 p.m. at the funeral home.
ROSIE B. RAINER

SEBASTOPOL Services for Rosie B. Rainer will be held Tuesday at 11 a.m. at Oakland Baptist Church with the Revs. Winnie McMahon, Vic Boman and Warren Hedgepeth officiating. Burial will be in the church cemetery with Milling Funeral Home in charge of arrangements.
Mrs. Rainer, 88, of Little Rock, died Sunday, June 10, 2001, at Laird Hospital. She was a lifetime member of Oakland Baptist Church of Decatur. She was an active member of the Little Rock chapter of The Eastern Star, where she once served as a grand matron. Mrs. Rainer was also a member of the Hickory Reading Club.
For many years, she served as a foster grandparent at East Mississippi State Hospital and also a house mom at the Baptist Children's Home in Laurel. For many years she wrote the Oakland Community News for the Union Appeal and the Newton Record. She will be greatly missed by her family and friends who knew her for her loving heart, gentle spirit, winsome smile and Christian humility. She was a loving and loved wife, mother, sister, grandmother and friend. After a lengthy illness, she entered into Heaven on June 10. "Nothing on earth is more precious than the love and devotion of an affectionate mother."
Survivors include four daughters, Lou Alexander of Little Rock, Helen Hicks and her husband, Cosper, of Florence, Rosie Gibson and her husband, Norman, of DeKalb and Vandra Smith and her husband, Robert, of Benton, La.; three brothers, Martin Peninger of West, Wilson Peninger and his wife, Idra, of Ackerman and G.W. Peninger of Meridian; 13 grandchildren and 20 great-grandchildren; several nieces, nephews and devoted friends.
She was preceded in death by her husband, C.V. Rainer; two sons, Henton and Willard Rainer; a grandson, David Lavender; and a great-grandson, Cecil Neese.
Pallbearers will be Johnny Munn, Danny Gressett, Durwood Munn, Jimmy Johnson, R.C. Alexander and Kenneth Neese.
Visitation will be today from 5 p.m.-9 p.m. at the funeral home.
