Free Junior Golf Tournaments: The Meridian Junior Golf Association will be holding several free tournamens open to golfers age 10, 11 and 12 during the month of June. The format for the events will be 4-man scramble and prizes will be awarded. Refreshments will also be provided.
The dates and locations for the tournaments are as follows: Tuesday, June 5th at Briarwood CC Tuesday, June 12th at Northwood CC Tuesday, June 19th at Lakeview Monday, June 25th at Ponta Creek.
The tournaments are sponsored by the Downtown Optimist Club and area golf professionals. Parents and grandparents are welcome to accompany golfers. To register or for more information contact Jay or Wanda Haynes at 693-4593.
Second Annual Metro Ambulance Golf Tournament: will be held June 16 at Lakeview Golf Course. Three person Scramble. Fee is $35. Benefits go to St. Jude Children's Hospital. For more information call Clark Wilson at 483-2260. $10 mulligans, door prizes available.

Soccer
MLS Camps: Major League Soccer will hold summer soccer camps on the Delta State University campus June 18-22. Ages 2-4, times 9-9:45 a.m., $48 includes shirt and ball. Ages 5-6, times 9-10:30 a.m., $68 includes shirt. Ages 7-18, times 9 a.m. to noon, $110 includes shirt. Ages 7-18, times 9 a.m. to 4 p.m., $155 includes shirt. Softball

William Carey Fast-Pitch Camp: The second annual Carrie Byrd Fast-Pitch Softball Camp is set for May 31-June 2 on the William Carey College campus in Hattiesburg from 8 a.m. until 4 p.m. each day. The camp features WCC head coach and camp director Carrie Byrd and assistant coach Heather Austin. Activities include detailed instruction in the areas of pitching and catching, defense, base-running and scrimmages. The camp is open to girls of all ages and skill levels. Day camp cost of $150 includes lunch, T-shirt and instruction. Overnight camp cost of $200 includes breakfast, lunch, dinner, dorm, T-shirt and instruction. Any application received after May 18 will be assessed a $75 late fee. The camp will be held at the Timberton Softball Complex. Ole Miss Softball Camps: For girls ages 8-18 on the Oxford campus. Overnight hitting camp is June 2-3, with registration set for 9-10 a.m. on June 2. Fee for all campers is $150 with a non-refundable deposit of $50 accompanying each application. Summer residential camp is June 19-21, with registration set for June 19 from 9-10 a.m. No pitching instruction is offered during this camp. Fees are $200 for resident campers and $150 for day campers with a non-refundable deposit of $50 accompanying each application. Ole Miss softball coaches and players serve as camp instructors. Tennis
Trebisky tennis camps: will be held daily from 9-11 at the Northeast Tennis Center, beginning May 28. The camps for juniors ages 5-17 will run through July. Fee for the camp is $45. For more information, contact Dave Trebisky at 483-3526 or 483-1288.
Miscellaneous
Mississippi Senior Olympics: Annual Senior Olympic games, June 6-9 and June 15-17 at Hinds Community College in Raymond; the Baptist Healthplex in Clinton; the Ridgeland Tennis Center; and the Indian Bowling Lanes in Clinton. Preliminary event to the National Senior Olympics, which are July 18-28 in Baton Rouge, La. Applications for Mississippi games are being taken now.
