Students recognized for academic achievements

NEWTON The following Newton County Elementary School students made the honor roll for the fourth nine weeks:

WAYNESBORO Wayne County High School student Penni L. Bowen of Waynesboro is the recipient of the Discover Card Tribute Award, a $2,500 scholarship.
Students receiving the award must have a minimum grade point average of 2.75 and demonstrate accomplishments in three of four areas special talent, leadership, obstacles overcome and community service.
JACKSON The following students were President's and Dean's List scholars at Millsaps for the spring semester 2001:
Paul Wright Bresnahan, Charles Webb Scales, Daniel Paul Culpepper, Jason Collins Jones, Jeffrey Scoe Douglas, Julie Marie Strickland and Julie Christine Skipper, all of Meridian; Jason Michael Josef of Bailey; Lauren Michelle Everett of Newton; and Jennifer Carin Breazeale and Yulon Chere Stewart, both of Philadelphia.
RUSTON, La. James Brian Machamer of Meridian was named to the spring quarter Dean's List at Louisiana Tech University. Students eligible for Dean's List honors must earn at least a 3.5 grade point average with no grade lower than a C while taking a minimum of nine semester hours.
