NEWTON There will be plenty of sports talk tonight during the fifth Newton County Relay For Life.
Themes announced so far include baseball, rodeo and cheerleaders. More are expected by the time the event begins.
The goal for this year is $40,000. Last year, the Relay for Life raised about $38,000 for the American Cancer Society.
The evening starts at 6 p.m. at the football field on the East Central Community College campus with the Survivors Reception. Last year, nearly 75 cancer survivors were honored during the reception.
The walking will start shortly afterward and will continue until 6 a.m. Saturday.
Sue Harris is the honorary chairman for this year's Relay.
The luminary walk begins at 10 p.m. So far, more than 500 luminaries have been sold.
The entertainment is non-stop throughout the evening. That includes a talent show and skits, set for 1 a.m.
