Leadership Lauderdale class graduates

By By Steve Swogetinsky/The Meridian Star
May 24, 2001
Two years of meetings, studying and working on projects came to an end Wednesday during graduation ceremonies for 30 participants in the Leadership Lauderdale Program.
After they received their certificates during a ceremony held at Union Station, the graduates talked about putting what they have learned about community leadership into action.
Others graduates talked about the lessons they learned while working with others.
Classmate Eloise Jenkins agreed.
More than 70 people applied to be part of Leadership Lauderdale County when it started in 1999. Forty were accepted and 30 completed the course. The first class began work in September 1999 with a retreat to Lake Tiakata in Louisville, and continued with monthly meetings. Participants were divided into teams and worked on community projects.
Dorothy Allen of the EMBDC said that plans are under way for another Leadership Lauderdale class. For information, call 693-1306.
