Blood drive set for Sunday
Westwood Baptist Church will sponsor a blood drive Sunday to help United Blood Services of Meridian with a critical need for blood during the Memorial Day weekend.
The drive will be held from 4 p.m.-7:30 p.m. in the bloodmobile, which will be parked at the church. Donors will receive a "Life-Saver" T-shirt and a pizza coupon.
Westwood Baptist Church is located at 1224 65th Ave. in Meridian.
Women's Build to hold meeting
The Women's Build Committee will hold a meeting to discuss a special Habitat for Humanity project for the women of Meridian and Lauderdale County. The meeting will be Tuesday from 5:30 p.m.-6:30 p.m. at Union Station.
Fish fry benefits Relay for Life
Trustmark National Bank will hold a fish fry Thursday to benefit the American Cancer Society's Relay for Life. Plates are $6 and include fried fish, french fries, hush puppies, cole slaw, dessert and a drink.
Volunteers will serve lunch from 11 a.m.-2 p.m. The bank is located at 700 23rd Ave. To order in advance, call Neil Henry at 693-9750 or Robin Shelton at 693-9733.
MCCSA offers home buyer classes
Multi-County Community Service Agency will offer home buyer classes Tuesday (Sessions 1-2) and Thursday (Sessions 3-4). The classes will be from 4:30 p.m.-8:30 p.m. at MCCSA's Neville Hall, 2900 St. Paul St. Participants will learn about budgeting, credit reports, home buying, home maintenance, mortgage loans, insurance and taxes.

Hickory Day set for June 9
Hickory Day will be held June 9 in Hickory's downtown park. Events include shopping booths, antique cars, entertainment, games and a children's corner. The event is sponsored by the Greater Hickory Chamber of Commerce. For information, call 646-9496 or 646-2211.
Silver Leaf hosts vintage car club
Silver Leaf Manor will host the Vintage Wheels Club's "Celebrating the Old Man and His Old Car" on June 17, in honor of Father's Day. The Father's Day cruisin' event will begin at 2:30 p.m. at Silver Leaf Manor, 4555 35th Ave.

MLT announces youth workshop
Meridian Little Theater's Summer Youth Workshop will be held June 25-29. The one-week session, four classes a day, will cover drama, dance, music and art.
Tuition is $75. A deposit of $25 is required by May 31. Scholarship applications may be picked up at the MLT office from 10 a.m.-2 p.m. For more information, call 482-6371.
Local hospice needs volunteers
SouthernCare Hospice is looking for caring people who are interested in doing volunteer work to help people in our community. Duties include making telephone calls, visiting patients, giving caregivers a break and running errands.
