Meridian police are investigating a Saturday morning armed robbery in which a convenience store clerk was injured.
Police Lt. Wade Johnson said a masked man entered the Dixie Pak-A-Sak on Grandview Avenue brandishing a small caliber handgun. During the robbery, the gunman struck the female clerk with either the gun or his fist, Johnson said.
The clerk received medical attention for the injury and reportedly is in stable condition this morning, he said.
After the clerk complied with the robber's demand for money, he fled the store on foot with an undisclosed amount of cash.
The suspect is described as a man of unknown race due to his face being covered with a ski mask. He reportedly is of medium build and was last seen wearing a white shirt with red sleeves, black sweatpants and gloves.
