McCleon, Franklin in town for youth football camp

Youth and high school football players will get a chance to improve their skills Saturday during the 2nd Dexter McCleon Tiger 9 Football Camp, which is set for Ray Stadium.
McCleon, a former all-state performer with the Meridian High School Wildcats, played college football at Clemson, and is now a member of the St. Louis Rams. He played on the Rams' Super Bowl championship team, two seasons ago.
McCleon finished up with the Rams' mini-camp Thursday allowing him to be in town for the camp. It had been previously announced that former Wildcats, Kenyatta Walker of the Tampa Bay Bucs and Kenny Smith of the New Orleans Saints, would be at the camp. However, both will be at mini-camps with their NFL teams this weekend, and will be unable attend, according to Billy Burnham, who is coordinating the camp.
Former Meridian quarterback Jason Franklin, now a member of the Green Bay Packers, will be coming to the camp, along with the Meridian High School coaching staff.
About 225 campers attended last year.
The camp is divided into two sessions: a morning session for grades 3-6, and an afternoon session for grades 7-12. Registration for the morning session will begin at 8:30 a.m., and 12:30 p.m. for the afternoon session. The $10 camp fee includes a T-shirt. All proceeds will go to the Meridian High School boosters for to help with the purchase of letter jackets.
