Arthritis seminar comes to Meridian

Information to help people control, or even prevent, arthritis will be available to the public during Arthritis Action Day Thursday at Frank Cochran Center in Highland Park.
In addition to speakers and a question-and-answer period, free bone density screenings and arthritis risk assessments will be conducted.
Opening remarks will be made by former Mississippi first lady Pat Fordice. Scheduled sessions include:
Noon "Working with Your Doctor to Manage Arthritis," Dr. Robert Daggett, rheumatologist;
12:20 p.m. "Living with Rheumatoid Arthritis," registered nurse Teresa Caudill;
12:40 p.m. "Drug Therapy for Arthritis," Dr. Joseph Byrd, chairman of clinical pharmacy practice at University of Mississippi Medical Center;
1 p.m. Question-and-answer period;
2 p.m. "Reducing Your Risk for Osteoarthritis," Jerry Johnson, physical therapist with Riley Home Health;
2:45 p.m. "Prevention and Control of Osteoporosis," Cindy Luther, nurse practitioner, Rush Senior Health Center; and
3:30 p.m. Panel discussion on fibromyalgia with: Eric Pearson, M.D., Rush Pain Clinic; John Hull, PhD., Anderson Sleep Clinic; Barbara Dobrosky, social worker, Rush Senior Health Center and Philip Quigley, Exercise Physiologist, Anderson Wellness Center.
