Robinson is Mother's Day Scholarship recipient

Meridianite Gay Robinson is not one to watch the world go by.
Her dedication and determination have paid off. She is the recipient of the Mae Carroll Thornton "Mother's Day" Scholarship. This $600 scholarship, which is funded through The MCC Foundation, was started by the late Meridian physician, Dr. Bill Thornton, in honor of his wife.
For six years, Robinson has worked as a licensed practical nurse.
But Robinson wanted to accomplish more in life. So, she returned to college.
Among her biggest supporters is her 15-year-old son, Marcquavis (Marc), who acknowledges how proud he is of his mother.
Marc wrote, "She's a full-time mom, a full-time student, but she's my friend. I don't know how she's had the strength to raise me.'"
Robinson said, "We're both in this together. If I'm stressed out, he's going to pick me up. We lean on each other."
Marc even leaves notes for his mom. When Robinson decided to return to school to advance her education, she got her son's input.
Robinson sees education as a major player.
It's just one bit of advice she offers fellow students. Other words of wisdom from this scholar:
