Candidates to appear on WMOX

Four candidates for Meridian mayor and contested races for council seats will be featured on Meridian talk radio station WMOX, AM 1010, starting Monday, according to station manger Bill Smith.
Smith said the live appearances would feature opening and closing comments by each candidate, who will also respond to call-ins from listeners. The appearances of mayoral candidates are scheduled Monday-Thursday and candidates in three contested council races will appear May 21-23.
All of the sessions will be on the air from 8:20 a.m.-9 a.m. on each of the days. For mayoral candidates, the schedule includes:
Monday – Charlie Haynes, Independent.
Tuesday – William Hugh Johnson, Democrat.
Wednesday – Bill McBride, Independent.
Thursday – John Robert Smith, Republican.
On May 21, incumbent Ward 3 council member Barbara Henson, Republican, will appear with challenger Lee Fryery, an independent.
On May 22, incumbent Ward 4 council member Jesse Palmer Sr. will appear with challenger John Nelson, an independent.
On May 23, incumbent Ward 5 council member Bobby Smith, Republican, will appear with challenger Todd Vallot, independent.
Station manager Smith said he is working to get all four mayoral candidates on the air together at some point before the June 5 election.
