Finding more than $33,000 in cash wasn't enough to make make Vanessa McRae and Glen Stephens happy but giving it back to its rightful owner was.
The Meridian nurse and her brother-in-law recently made the find in Biloxi while at a convention for emergency medical technicians.
McRae said she initially went for the shaving kit type bag because she thought it could contain medicine someone might be looking for.
She was right. A senior citizen from Florida had discovered the bag missing when he went to retrieve his medicine, and called the police. Also missing was a stack of $100 bills totaling $33,000 and a stack of $50 bills that McRae and Stephens didn't bother to count.
McRae and Stephens had taken the bag to security at a nearby aquarium, but fearing the amount of money might sway good intentions, decided to call the police as a back up measure.
