OBITUARIES FOR THURSDAY, MAY 3, 2001

PEGGY JEAN SPARROW ROGERS
ST. LOUIS, Mo. Services for Peggy Jean Sparrow Rogers will be held Friday at Christ The King Church in University City. Austin A. Layne Mortuary is in charge of arrangements.
Mrs. Rogers, 66, died Friday, April 27, 2001, in her home. She was born October 6, 1934, in Meridian, to Nicodemus and Ruth Helen Sparrow. She attended T.J. Harris School in Meridian. On March 19, 1951, she married her soul mate, Andrew Rogers, who preceded her in death.
Survivors include a daughter, Gail Spencer; a son, Larry Rogers; a grandson, Vernon A. Spencer; her father, Nicodemus Sparrow; her brother, Charles Grant and his wife, Mary; her aunt, Vera Collins; two brothers-in-law, J.B. Rodgers of St. Louis and William Rodgers of El Paso, Texas; and several nieces, nephews, cousins and friends.
CHARLIE LEON COOKSEY
UNION Services for Charlie Leon Cooksey will be held Friday at 10 a.m. at First Baptist Church with the Rev. Dr. Marcus Finch officiating. Burial will be in Union City Cemetery with Milling Funeral Home in charge of arrangements.
Mr. Cooksey, 74, of Union, died Tuesday, May 1, 2001, at Laird Hospital. He was a veteran of World War II.
Survivors include his wife, Maurice Cooksey and a son, Wayne Cooksey, both of Union.
He was preceded in death by his brother, Curtis Cooksey and a sister, Havis Sheehan.
Visitation will be today from 6-9 p.m. at the funeral home.
CHRISTINE NORTH HEETH

Services for Christine North Heeth will be held Friday at 10:30 a.m. at Chunky Baptist Church. Burial will be in Chunky Cemetery with Stephens Funeral Home in charge of arrangements.
Mrs. Heeth, 92, of Meridian, died Wednesday, May 2, 2001, in Meridian.
Survivors include two nephews, Danny Clark and his wife, Celia, and Olen Hull and his wife, Nita, all of Chunky.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Perry Alexander Heeth.
Visitation will be Friday one hour prior to the service.
ROBERT LEE HURD

Graveside services for Robert Lee Hurd will be held Friday at 1 p.m. at Hopewell Cemetery in Rose Hill. Berry and Gardner Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.
Mr. Hurd, 79, of Chicago, died Tuesday, April 24, 2001, in his home.
Survivors include two sons, Robert Lee Hurd Jr. and Armand Hurd, both of Chicago; a brother, Walter Hurd Sr. of Rose Hill and a sister, Hattie McCune of Gary, Ind.
Visitation will be Friday from 10 a.m. to noon at Wesley Chapel Church in Rose Hill.
VIVIAN LOUIS SMITH MAJURE

Services for Vivian Louis Smith Majure will be held Friday at 1:30 p.m. at James F. Webb Funeral Home with the Revs. Robert Horel and Dean Rydbeck officiating. Burial will be in Magnolia Cemetery.
Mrs. Majure, 83, of Meridian, died Tuesday, May 1, 2001, at King's Daughters and Sons Rest Home. She was born on Feb. 3, 1918, in Lauderdale County. Mrs. Majure was a member of First Presbyterian Church of Meridian.
Survivors include her son, Bill Majure and his wife, Lynn, and a grandson, James Majure, all of Meridian; three sisters, Ellen McClennon of Sedalia, Mo., Beth Cornelius of Brandon and Tommie Smith of Phoenix, Ariz. She will also be missed by many other extended family members and dear friends.
She was preceded in death by her husband of more than 50 years, Ed Majure and a son, Jim Majure.
Visitation will be today from 5-8 p.m. at the funeral home and one hour prior to the service on Friday.
LOYE THOMAS LOVETTE II

QUITMAN Services for Loye Thomas Lovette II will be held Friday at 2 p.m. at Wright's Funeral Home Chapel with the Rev. Glen Lafferty officiating. Burial will be in Odd Fellows Cemetery.
Mr. Lovette, 57, of Steems, died Monday, April 30, 2001, in Steems. He was born Oct. 28, 1943 in Norfolk. He was a veteran of the U.S. Air Force.
Survivors include his wife, Reba Lovette, a son, Loye Thomas Lovette III and his wife, Diane, all of Meridian; step-children, David Metcalf of Meridian, Becky Buenam of Pelahatchie and Randy Whitehead of Jackson; two sisters, Sandy Byers of Glens Falls, N.Y. and Carolyn Martinez of Kissimmee, Fla.; two grandchildren, Lori Daniel Lovette and Victoria Paige Lovette; four step-grandchildren, Christopher Buenam, Megan Buenam, Jeremy Metcalf and Evan Metcalf.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Loye Thomas and Estelle Lovette, and a stepson, Todd Whitehead.

MACON Services for Cola P. Ming will be held Friday at 1 p.m. at Murphy Creek Baptist Church with the Revs. Olin Roberts and Bill Vaughn officiating. Burial will be in the church cemetery with Cockrell Funeral Home in charge of arrangements.
Mr. Ming, 86, of Columbus, died Tuesday, May 1, 2001, in his home.
Survivors include his wife, Maggie Ming of Columbus; two daughters, Joyce Jenrette of Tuscaloosa, Ala. and Nancy Ming of Ethelsville, Ala.; four sons, Prentiss Ming of Fresno, Calif., Alton Ming of Columbus, Duane Ming of Dallas and Shelby Ming of Norfolk; a sister, Willie Mae Shields of Glen Allen; 14 grandchildren and 16 great-grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by his parents, F.A. and Letha Ann McCool Ming.
The family requests memorials be made to the Salvation Army, 2219 Main St., Starkville, MS 39759.
Visitation will be today from 6:30-9 p.m. at the funeral home.
AVAREE C. GARDNER
Services for Avaree C. Gardner will be held Saturday at 11 a.m. at Barham Funeral Home Chapel. Burial will be in Meridian Memorial Park Cemetery.
Mrs. Gardner, 75, of Meridian, died Wednesday, May 2, 2001, at Guardian Angel Hospice.
Visitation will be Friday from 5-9 p.m. at the funeral home.
