OBITUARIES FOR SUNDAY, APRIL 29, 2001

MARY ELLEN CHAPMAN CARTER

PASCAGOULA Services for Mary Ellen Chapman Carter will be held Monday at 10 a.m. at O'Bryant-O'Keefe Funeral Home Chapel with the Rev. John Harold Bethune officiating. Burial will be in Biloxi National Cemetery.
Mrs. Carter, of Moss Point and Meridian, died Friday, April 27, 2001, at Ochsner University Medical Center in New Orleans. She was born August 25 in Newton. She was a graduate of William Carey College and the University of Southern Mississippi and she was a school teacher for Pascagoula schools. She was a Library Media Specialist for Central and Lake Elementary Schools. After Mrs. Carter retired she was the owner of The Goodie Basket in Meridian where she resided for the past nine years. She was a member of ADK Sorority, The Moss Point Women's Club and a lifetime member of the University of Southern Mississippi Alumni.
Survivors include her husband, Dolphus Carter of Moss Point and Meridian; a son, Dolphus Chapman "Buster" Carter and his wife, Deborah Ann, of Moss Point and Newton; a daughter, Jayne Carter Davis and her husband, Maury Lee, of Moss Point and Meridian; her mother, Florence Spiers Chapman of Pascagoula and Newton; two sisters, Martha Lewis and her husband, John, of Pascagoula and Margaret Evans of the Delta State University in Cleveland, Miss.; two grandchildren, Madison Davis and Chris Carter; and a number of nieces, nephews and other relatives.
Visitation will be today from 6-8 p.m. at the funeral home.
DESMA DAVIS BLANKS
Graveside services for Desma Davis Blanks will be held Monday at 11:30 a.m. at Magnolia Cemetery with the Revs. Clarence Quarles and Clarence Roberts officiating. James F. Webb Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.
Mrs. Blanks, 95, of Meridian, died Saturday, April 28, 2001, at Rush Foundation Hospital. She was a member of Toomsuba Presbyterian Church.
Survivors include a granddaughter, Lynn Slattery and her husband, Dick, of Newport, Ala.; two great-granddaughters; and many nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Hunter Blanks.
Visitation will be held Monday from 10:30-11:15 a.m. at the funeral home.
HELEN THERESA HAMMOND
Homemaker
NEWTON Services for Helen Theresa Hammond will be held Tuesday at 9:30 a.m. at Newton Presbyterian Church with the Rev. Charles Douglas officiating. Burial will be in Northwood Cemetery in Cambridge, Ohio with James F. Webb Funeral Home in charge of local arrangements.
Mrs. Hammond, 88, of Pearl and former resident of Newton, died Saturday, April 28, 2001, at Parkview Medical Center in Vicksburg. She was a member of Newton Presbyterian Church.
Survivors include a daughter, Katheryn Jane Smith of Sarasota, Fla.; a son, Charles Hammond of Clinton; a sister, Wilma Campbell of St. Clairsville, Ohio; five grandchildren and three great-grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Harry Hammond.
Visitation will be Monday from 6-8:30 p.m. at the funeral home.
EDNA FRANCES ANDERSON
Homemaker and retired from Winn-Dixie
Services for Edna Frances Anderson will be held Tuesday at 1:30 p.m. at James F. Webb Funeral Home Chapel with the Rev. Earl Wheatly officiating. Burial will be in Hamrick Cemetery.
Mrs. Anderson, 68, of Collinsville, died Friday, April 27, 2001, at Jeff Anderson Regional Medical Center. She was a member of the Collinsville Homemakers Club.
Survivors include her husband, Ralph Anderson of Collinsville; three sons, Terk Anderson and his wife, Marie Mitchell, and Tim Anderson and his wife, Carolyn, all of Kemper County and Terry Anderson and his wife, Teresa, of Philadelphia; a daughter, Danita and her husband, Kenny Duett, of Collinsville; a sister, Faye Grantham of Chunky; a brother, Charles Anderson of Kemper County; nine grandchildren, Holly Williams, Heather Anderson, Stacey Nelson, Ashley Anderson, Sara Anderson, Jeramy Duett, Megan Duett, Caleb Duett and Sim Anderson; two great-granddaughters, Amber and Autumn William; and several nieces, nephews, great-nieces and great-nephews.
She was preceded in death by Onie Rose, Hannon Alonzo Anderson; two brothers, Buddy and Billy Anderson; and two sisters, Ada Lea Anderson and Thara Hodgins.
Visitation will be Monday from 5-8 p.m. at the funeral home.
