Waiting for Jimmie

By Staff
INVITATIONS Jimmie Rodgers is riding the rails again, singing and playing the guitar at Amtrak stations all over the Southeast and inviting everyone he meets to attend the Jimmie Rodgers Festival.
With a new format and focus, the May 3-5 festival is reaching out to fans of country, jazz, blues and rock music. Local musician Britt Gully is playing the "Singing Brakeman" on the promotional tour.
He departed Union Station Wednesday and will return to Meridian next week in time for the festival's opening.
For more information, call the Lauderdale County Tourism Bureau at 482-8001.
