Peavey business award goes to Ronnie Massey

Massey was announced as the winner of the Peavey Award today during opening ceremonies for the Main Event.
A recipient is chosen each year from nominations submitted by the general public. The award honors local people who have used their entrepreneurial skills and business expertise to create thriving businesses.
A native of Kemper County, Massey opened his used car business in 1956. Today, the inventory at Massey Super Mart Auto Sales averages 125 late-model cars, vans and trucks. The dealership averages more than $12 million in annual sales.
Massey has always been active in various chamber, industrial development and civic activities.
He has received many professional awards and honors, including Small Business Person of the Year and the Mississippi-Louisiana Quality Dealer Award of the Year. He has been the runner-up for the national version of the latter award.
An active member of Poplar Springs Drive Baptist Church, he currently serves as a deacon and Sunday school teacher. He is very involved in the Gideons International.
The Main Event continues today until 5 p.m. at the Lauderdale County Agri-Center. It will remain open through 7 p.m. with a Business After Hours, sponsored by the East Mississippi Business Development Corp.
