Arthritis Foundation to hold public forum in Meridian
The Mississippi chapter of the Arthritis Foundation will hold a meeting for persons interested in helping with an upcoming public forum titled: "Take Control: Assess Your Joint Health."
The forum is to be held May 17 in Meridian. Volunteers are needed to assist the staff on the day of the event. Help is also needed in promoting and getting materials for the forum.
Anyone interested is invited to attend an organizational meeting Thursday at 2 p.m. at the Meridian Senior Citizen Center, 3300 32nd Ave. For more information, call (800) 844-8400.
Dumpster Dogs' Society to meet today
The Lauderdale County "Dumpster Dog" Humane Society will meet today at 7 p.m. on the first floor of the Court House Annex. For information call, 679-1919 or 644-9907.
Kemper Chamber of Commerce luncheon set
The Kemper County Chamber of Commerce will hold its annual business/industrial luncheon Thursday at 12:15 p.m. at the Farmers' Market on Highway 16 East behind McDade Oil.
The Business and Industry of the Year will be awarded. Lunch will be prepared by the Kemper County Civic League. Tickets are $8 and can be bought from any chamber board member or at the Chamber office in the Business Incubator on Highway 16. For more information, call 743-2754.
Way of The Cross set for Friday
The 4th annual Way of the Cross/Way of Peace walk will take place Friday. Thirteen churches are part of a route that will be taken. A reading of the scripture will be done at each stop, and then a presentation of the passage will be enacted. Songs are sung and prayers are said. The walk will take about three hours.

DAV mobile office to visit Meridian
Detailed explanations of the benefits available to disabled veterans and their families will be presented at an upcoming Disabled American Veterans Mobile Service Office visit.
Like all services provided by the non-profit DAV, there will be no charge for on-site counseling and claim-filing assistance, which will be hosted by Meridian Chapter No. 56. It will be presented Friday at the Bonita Lakes Mall food court entrance, from 10 a.m. to 6 p.m.
Veterans and members of their families need not be DAV or DAV Auxiliary members to take advantage of this service. Please bring your Department of Veterans Affairs claim number, Social Security number and any other pertinent documentation to the session.
Easter festivities set for area
The public is invited to attend these Easter festivities being held in our area.
Saturday Collinsville Park area of Lake Okatibbee will be the setting of the largest Easter egg hunt in Mississippi. The egg hunt is free to the public. Money raised through activities (such as pictures with the Easter Bunny, children's games, food and drink sales) will be donated to the Children's Miracle Network. Activities start at 9 a.m. with the hunt at noon. For information call, Paul Bucurel at 693-2381.
Saturday Central Baptist Church is hosting a Easter egg hunt from 2-4 p.m. for children toddlers through the 6th grade. There will be different egg hunts for different ages as well as other games and activities. Each child needs to bring four eggs and their basket.

Transplant Support Group meeting in Meridian
If you have had an organ transplant, if you or a family member is in need of an organ transplant, or perhaps, if you just want to learn more about organ transplantation and donation, the Meridian Transplant/Donor Support Group will meet Saturday at 3 p.m. in the Jeff Anderson Hospital Auditorium on the ground floor. The public is invited to attend.

Crisis Pregnancy Center being established
A Crisis Pregnancy Center is being established for Lauderdale County. The organization will meet at Northpointe Presbyterian Church on April 16, at 7 p.m. Counselors, doctors and volunteers willing to donate time should call the church at 482-7744 or Craig Ziemba at 679-8146.
