Kemper County's Boyd expected to ink with MCC

Meridian Community College men's basketball coach George Brooks made a valiant effort this past season to land one of the area's biggest post players in Kenny Boyd.
Apparently, it paid off.
Boyd, the 6-foot-7 Kemper County High School standout, is expected to sign with Brooks and the Eagles today. The press conference at the KCHS library is scheduled for 1 p.m.
Boyd helped lead coach Charles Jackson's Wildcats to a 25-12 mark this past season, when Kemper County won the Division 5-3A Tournament and advanced to the Class 3A South State semifinals.
Boyd averaged team-highs of 16.8 points, 12.4 rebounds and 2.3 blocked shots for Kemper and was a three-year letterwinner for Jackson.
