Gray's HR lifts MCC to victory over Jones

The Meridian Community College baseball team took a three-run decision over Jones County Junior College Sunday afternoon thanks to a couple of big hits late in the ballgame.
The Eagles used 13 hits to overcome eight errors and win the game 7-4 in 11 innings.
MCC took an early lead with a run in the second inning. The 1-0 lead wouldn't last long though as the Bobcats answered with three runs in the third to go up 3-1.
The Eagles scored one run apiece in the fourth, fifth and sixth innings and Jones also added a run in the sixth to knot the score at 4-4.
The score remained locked at 4-4 until Antoin Gray stepped up to the plate for the Eagles in the 11th and ripped a solo home run to put MCC back on top, 5-4.
The Eagles added to their lead in the inning as Lance Dawkins connected on a run-scoring single to make it 7-4.
Michael Goodson took the win on the mound for MCC and Adam Smith picked up his first save of the season.
Leading the Eagle offensive attack was Rory Thornton with a 4-for-6 effort. Dustin Cliburn and Tyler Scarbrough each had a double and a single, while Dawkins and Chris Knight each had two singles
The Eagles' will be back in action on Tuesday when they host a double-header against Danville.First pitch is set for 3 p.m.
