Ley Fletcher's Meridian Community College track squad continues to compete against larger competition.
And the Eagles continue to fare well.
MCC, in a non-scoring meet, ventured to the Mississippi State Invitational this past weekend and placed in nine events. The Eagles were competing against the host Bulldogs from the Southeastern Conference, as well as Division I-A schools like Arkansas State, Middle Tennessee State and Indiana State.
Hinds Community College and Holmes Community College also took part in the meet.
MCC's best performance came in the 800m run, an event that saw three Eagles place in the top five.
Damien Samuels was third with a time of 1:54.16, while Jerry Teachey was fourth at 1:57.89 and Courtney Barlow fifth at 1:58.84.
The Eagles were fourth in the 200m run, the 1500m run and the 400m hurdles.
Ivan Gray's time of 21.34 was good enough for a fourth-place finish in the 200m individual race, while Gideon Chepkwoney was fourth in the 1500m run with a time of 4:02.10. The other fourth-place finish was in the 400m hurdles and came via a 56.43 time by Dale Moorehouse.
Also for MCC, Greg Lambert was sixth in the 400m run with a time of 50.95; Kenneth Wade was eighth in the 100m run with a time of 10.91; and Shedrick Moss finished 12th in the 110m hurdles with a time of 15.82.
Meridian also continued to make a name in the relays, taking third in the 4x400m relay race and finishing fifth in the 4x100m relay.
Gray, Lambert, Samuels and Moorehouse ran the 4x400m relay in a time of 3:19.10 for a third-place finish, while Wade, Moss, Gray and Lambert were fifth in the 4x100m relay race after finishing with a time of 42.59.
