Woman charged with assault on police officer

A Collinsville woman was jailed Saturday evening on a charge of aggravated assault on a police officer after allegedly striking and kicking a deputy at a local business.
Vanessa Cottles, 24, 8777 Okatibbee Dam Road, was taken into custody following an incident at the Hungry Heifer Bar and Grill, according to police reports.
Cottles claimed she was aiming for someone else when two officers and a security guard got in the way.
Deputy Brian Dehek, who was assisting Meridian police in the case, reportedly suffered minor injuries.
Bond for the felony charge was set at $5,000.
Cottles was also charged with resisting arrest, public drunk, using profanity in public and disorderly conduct. Bond was set at $500 for each of the misdemeanor charges, according to police reports.
