Raider Run set for Saturday morning

The Seventh Annual Raider Run and Walk will be held Saturday at Lamar School. The event begins at 9 a.m. There will be a 5K run. as well as a two-mile walk and a one-mile Fun Run for kids.
The race day schedule begins at 7 a.m. and will go until 8:45.
The 5K begins at 9 a.m. The two-mile walk gets started shortly thereafter at 9:10, and the Kids Fun Run begins at 9:30 a.m.
The awards ceremony will immediately follow the 5K.
In the main race, awards will be given to the top finisher, and to the runner with the record breaking time (15:14). Other awards will go to the top three male and females overall. as well as those in each age division.
The top male and female Lamar faculty winners, as well as Raider students will be recognized, as well. Other categories are speed walker, male and female master, male and female grandmaster, Military member and Police officer.
Following the awards ceremony, there will be a raffle drawing. All participants in the run and walk are automatically entered in the raffle, with the contestant's race number serving as the raffle number. There is no extra purchase necessary. Some of the prizes that will be given away include valuable merchandise from Heart and Sole Cycle and Fitness, free dinners from Outback Steak House and cash awards.
Winners need not be present to win.
The race begins at the front gate of the school and continues north up Newell Road to Northeast Elementary School. From there, the race turns back and ends at the starting point.
There will also be free consultations and advice from professional trainers and physical therapists, courtesy of Rush Hospital. There will also be an assortment of food and drinks available.
Pre-registration fee is $12. Race Day registration entry fee is $15 per person. Entry fee includes raffle and post-race concessions. The first 200 entrants will receive a Raider Run T-shirt.
Entry fees in check or money order need to be made out to Lamar School.
