Organizers of a multiple sclerosis walk set for Saturday at Bonita Lakes say the fund-raiser won't be a stroll in the park, but it could help find a cure for a disease that affects thousands of new victims each year.
She said about 70 members of the vocational organization are contributing to the walk.
Money raised this weekend in Meridian and across Mississippi will go toward MS research and statewide programs, she said.
This year marks the third annual Multiple Sclerosis Walk held at Bonita Lakes. The national MS Society has been conducting the walk for 13 years. Registration is set to begin at 9 a.m. with the walk slated to start at 10 a.m.
Arnsdorff said at least 60 percent of the funds raised Saturday will remain in Mississippi to support the state's MS Society.
Multiple sclerosis is a chronic disease of the central nervous system that affects more than 300,000 Americans.
