A computerized fetal monitoring system is now offered at WomanCare Birth Place at Riley Hospital.
The system a first for Meridian and one of only four in Mississippi allows physicians and nurses to better monitor and care for expectant mothers and their unborn babies.
The technology behind the "Agilent Obstetrical Trace Vue" was introduced to Riley employees Monday by a clinical educator from Agilent.
The software monitors vital fetal and maternal parameters, and also provides bedside clinical documentation from the mother's time of admission throughout recovery.
The system stores fetal and maternal records for later review, and can monitor up to 16 patients simultaneously.
