Meridian Red Cross loses director

March 14, 2001
The executive director of the Meridian Key Chapter of the American Red Cross has resigned after less than a year on the job.
Brad Steely's last day was Friday. He has accepted a civil service position and is now a marketing specialist with the 8th Marine Corps District in New Orleans.
Steely was a U.S. Navy retiree with 20 years of service when he accepted the position with the Red Cross.
Steely became the executive director in Meridian in June 2000, replacing longtime Red Cross leader Dorothy Reeves. She had retired after 18 years with the Key Chapter.
He said he will be at the Meridian chapter most weekends to help until a replacement can be found. Once a new executive director is on the job, he said he will continue to be available at the Louisiana and Mississippi offices as a volunteer.
He said until some decisions are final, the Key Chapter will not begin its search for a replacement for Steely.
