Lady Vols, UConn get No. 1 seeds

Defending champion Connecticut and Tennessee were seeded No. 1 in the NCAA women's basketball tournament Sunday, even as injuries leave some uncertainty over how far each can advance.
The other No. 1 seeds in the 64-team field went to Notre Dame and Duke, which edged Georgia for the final spot. The difference came down to performance in conference play.
Duke won the regular-season and tournament championship in the Atlantic Coast Conference.
Georgia won the Southeastern Conference tournament, but finished three games behind league champion Tennessee in the regular season.
The Lady Bulldogs are seeded second in the East Regional.
The other No. 2 seeds are from the Big 12: Iowa State, Oklahoma and Texas Tech. Oklahoma was the regular-season champion, Iowa State the tournament winner.
Tennessee, the No. 1 seed overall, tops the bracket in the Mideast Regional and Connecticut got the No. 1 seed in the East. Those regional winners would not meet until the national championship game in St. Louis on April 1, so another Tennessee-UConn matchup for the title is possible if they can survive that long.
Connecticut beat Tennessee 71-52 in last year's championship game in Philadelphia. They split two regular-season games this season, each winning at home.
Notre Dame was placed in the Midwest Regional and faces Alcorn State of the Southwestern Athletic Conference. ASU's Lady Braves were the only Mississippi team to make the women's field of 64.
