Clarke County names 2002 Junior Miss

QUITMAN Karri Johnson thought her night might be over after the first and second alternates in the Clarke County Junior Miss Scholarship Program were announced.
Then it was announced that she had been selected as the 2002 Clarke County Junior Miss.
Seven girls competed for the title of Clarke County Junior Miss Saturday night at Quitman High School.
Johnson, 17, is a junior at Quitman High School. She is a cheerleader, a member of the science club, the Big Blue Band and the student council. She is the daughter of Willie L. Johnson and Robin D. Johnson and attends Pleasant Hills Baptist Church.
Jennifer Kersh was named first alternate, Vicki Todd second alternate.
Johnson, who did a gymnastics routine as her talent, also received the Poise Award. Heather Richardson was the winner of the Spirit of Junior Miss Award. Kersh won the Scholastic Award and the Fitness Award, while Jennifer Martin won the Talent Award.
More than $3,500 in scholarships were awarded over the course of the evening.
Johnson advances to the State Junior Miss Program, which will be held in August in Meridian.
