Bob and LaNita Douglas of Newton announce the engagement of their daughter, Melissa Brooke, to Christopher Everette Vowell, son of David and Brenda Vowell of Philadelphia.
The wedding will be held Saturday, April 21, 2001, at 6 p.m. at First Baptist Church of Newton.
Miss Douglas is the granddaughter of the late Mr. and Mrs. Remus Desmond Douglas of Newton and Mr. and Mrs. Harvey Franklin Smith of Hattiesburg.
The bride-elect is a graduate of Newton High School and a graduate of the University of Mississippi and received a doctorate of pharmacy.
While attending Ole Miss, she was a member of Phi Kappa Phi, Rho Chi and Chi Omega sorority. She received a Taylor Medal.
Miss Douglas is currently employed by Rush Foundation Hospital.
Mr. Vowell is the grandson of the late Mr. and Mrs. Everette Laverne Vowell of Noxapater and Iris Bourrage Massey of Noxapater and the late William Alvin Massey.
The bridegroom-elect is a graduate of Neshoba Central High School, the University of Mississippi and New Orleans Baptist Theological Seminary.
While attending Ole Miss, he was a member of the baseball team and was an SEC Scholar Athlete.
Mr. Vowell is currently employed by Beacon Street Baptist Church of Philadelphia.
A reception will be held at Newton Station Depot.

Ms. Dorothy Collins of Meridian announces the engagement of her daughter, Kimberly Collins Cline, to David Brent Manasco, son of the Rev. and Mrs. David Manasco of Shubuta. The bride-elect is also the daughter of the late Richard D. Collins.
The wedding will be held Saturday, March 24, 2001, at 5 p.m. at Mt. Horeb Baptist Church.
Ms. Cline is the granddaughter of the late Mr. and Mrs. Columbus D. Collins and the late Mr. and Mrs. Rueben M. Bradley, all of Meridian.
The bride-elect is a 1987 graduate of Clarkdale High School and received an associate's degree in nursing from Meridian Community College in 1997.
She is currently a register nurse at East Mississippi State Hospital-Adolescent Unit.
Mr. Manasco is the grandson of Lena Mae Manasco and the late Edgar Noel Manasco and Christine Riley and the late Edgar Ray Riley, all of Shubuta.
The bridegroom-elect is a 1990 graduate of Pearl High School. He received a bachelor of science degree in psychology from Hinds Community College and a master of arts degree in Christian education from New Orleans Baptist Theological Seminary.
Mr. Manasco is currently a pastoral counselor for Alliance Health Center.
A reception will be held in the church fellowship hall following the ceremony.

Mr. and Mrs. Robert H. Preston of Douglas, Ga., announces the engagement of their daughter, Ashley Lane, to William Hayes Graves, son of Mr. and Mrs. John Gilbert Graves of Fernandina Beach, Fla.
The wedding will be held Saturday, April 7, 2001, at First Baptist Church in Fernandina Beach.
Miss Preston is the granddaughter of Mrs. Norwood Rogers of Claxton, Ga., and the late Mr. Rogers and Mrs. Montgomery Lane Preston of Douglas, Ga., and the late Mr. Preston.
The bride-elect is a 1992 graduate of Coffee High School, Douglas, and a 1997 graduate of Georgia State University, Atlanta. She earned a degree in criminal justice.
Miss Preston is currently employed by the State of Florida, Department of Juvenile Justice, Nassau County.
Mr. Graves is the grandson of Samuel E. Waggoner of Brandon and Fort Myers, Fla., and the late Mrs. Waggoner and Mr. and Mrs. Gilbert Hayes Graves of Brandon.
The bridegroom-elect is a 1993 graduate of Lamar High School in Meridian and a 1998 graduate of Mississippi State University. He earned a degree in landscape management.
Mr. Graves is currently employed by Amelia Island Plantation, Fernandina Beach.

The bridegroom is a graduate of Greenville Christian School and received an associates of arts degree from Mississippi Delta Community College. He is a criminal justice major at Delta State University.
