Shopping for a new career?
Meridian Community College's Occupational Education department may have your answer.
The college will set up a booth at the Bonita Lakes Mall this week, starting Monday at 10 a.m., with displays and information about different career choices.
MCC instructors will be available from noon until 4 p.m. each day to meet with prospective students. Enrollment counselors will be there as well.
Unlike a degree in Liberal Arts, the Occupational Programs get people ready to go to work upon completion of the study. The career curriculums vary, Goodman added.
The Occupation Program at Meridian Community College is divided into four divisions: Business Technology, Health Education and Nursing, Industrial Technology and Creative Technology. Here is a breakdown of the courses taught in each division:
Business Technology: Computer Information Systems, Marketing, Management, Hotel and Restaurant Management.
Health Education and Nursing: Dental Hygiene. Health Information, Medical Laboratory, Nursing, Physical Therapist Assistant, Practical Nursing, Radiologic Technology, Respiratory Care, and Nurse Assistant.
Industrial Technology: Drafting and design, electronics, construction trades, horticulture, Industrial Technology and machine tool trades.
Creative Technology: Broadcast, communications, child development, graphics, fire protection and telecommunications.
For more information, call 481-1313.
