Feb. 13, 2001
The annual shipment of Girl Scout cookies arrived in Meridian Monday and 20 Girl Scout leaders and other volunteers picked up 10,000 cases for delivery in five area counties.
With their own trucks and trailers, the Interstate warehouse on 29th Avenue was a beehive of activity as cases of cookies were transported. Volunteers from NAS-Meridian even pitched in.
Interstate donated space in the warehouse to keep the cookies from Monday-Tuesday. The remaining cookies were picked up and delivered to the Girl Scout Office earlier today.
People who bought boxes can expect delivery any time from now through March 3, said officials, noting cookies are still available.
Proceeds from the cookie sale are used by troops for programs and activities the girls have planned and by the Council to fund services and programs made available throughout the year. Tagalongs, Thin Mints, Aloha Chips, Lemon Drops, Samoas, Do-si-dos, Trefoils, and Apple Cinnamon cookies are still available for $3 a box.
To order cookies, call 693-2903.
