OBITUARIES FOR THURSDAY, FEB. 8, 2001

GRACE MILDRED MCDONALD KOSTECK

QUITMAN Services for Grace Mildred Kosteck will be held today at 3 p.m. at Wright's Funeral Home Chapel with Father Elvin Sunds officiating. Burial will be in Shady Grove Church of God Cemetery.
Mrs. Kosteck, 73, of Meridian, died Monday, Feb. 5, 2001, at Jeff Anderson Regional Medical Center in Meridian.
Survivors include a daughter, Kimberly Harrington and her husband, John, of Toomsuba; a brother, Evan McDonald of Quitman; a sister, Louise Norris of Quitman; six grandchildren and a great-grandchild.
She was preceded in death by a son, Nicholas Paul Kosteck and her parents, Claude and Earline McDonald.
Pallbearers will be Eddie Matfey, Tom Zettler, Donald "Ray" Griffin, Charles Griffin, Roger Davidson, John Harrington and Bennie White.
Visitation will be today from 12:30-3 p.m. at the funeral home.
CHARLES WOODROW CARROLL

QUITMAN Services for Charles Woodrow Carroll were held today at 10 a.m. at Wright's Funeral Home Chapel with the Rev. Stanley Phillips officiating. Burial was in New Home Cemetery.
Mr. Carroll, 77, of Quitman, died Tuesday, Feb. 6, 2001, in his home.
Survivors include a wife, Lois E. Carroll of Quitman; a son, Ricky Woodrow Carroll of Quitman; two daughters, Vickie Carroll Winslett of Madison and Brenda Carroll Fagan of Quitman; two brothers, Eldridge Carroll of Quitman and Elvin Carroll of Meridian; a sister, Eloise Blackwell of Quitman; four grandchildren, Rebecca and Samuel Winslett of Madison, Derrick Woodrow Carroll and Wesley Fagan, both of Quitman.
ELVIE L. HENDERSON
Graveside services for Elvie L. "Little Bit" Henderson will be held today at 2:30 p.m. at Forest Lawn Cemetery with Barham Funeral Home in charge of arrangements.
Mrs. Henderson, 83, of Meridian, died Monday, Feb. 5, 2001, in Meridian.
Survivors include two daughters, Helen McInturff of Meridian and Evelyn Searcy of North Carolina; a sister, Doris Brown of Collinsville; six grandchildren, 13 great-grandchildren and seven great-great-grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Dorris Henderson.
Visitation will be today beginning at 1:30 p.m. at the funeral home.
JAMES SIDNEY WAGNER

NEWTON Services for James Sidney Wagner will be held today at 3:30 p.m. at First Baptist Church with the Revs. Dr. Frank Harmon and Paul Strahan officiating. Burial will be in Newton County Memorial Gardens with James F. Webb Funeral Home in charge of arrangements.
Mr. Wagner, 53, of Hickory, died Tuesday, Feb. 6, in Hickory. He was a member of First Baptist Church where he was a member of the choir, immediate past chairman of Deacons, member of the Gideons International, officer of Newton Camp, Newton County Cattlemen's Association, officer and board member.
Survivors include his wife, Lynn Addkison Wagner of Newton; a son, Jody Wagner and his wife, Jill, of Hereford, Texas; a daughter, Leanne McGee and her husband, Mark, of Simpsonville, S.C.; a mother-in-law, Florence Addkison of Newton; three brothers, Eddie Wagner of Jackson, Johnny Wagner and Ricky Wagner, both of Collinsville; and two sisters, Ann Therrien and Lela Baucum, both of Newton.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Joe and Jimmie Goss Wagner.
The family requests memorials be made to the Gideons Foundation.
Pallbearers will be Bob Douglas, Jo Jo Logan, David Lofton, Dr. Donnie Wilson, Leon Harris, David Feldman, Buddy Weems, Mike Strebeck and Danny Lindsley.
Visitation will be today from 8 a.m.-3:15 p.m. at the funeral home.
JAMES A. SMITH
Retired from Ingalls Shipbuilding
PASCAGOULA Services for James A. Smith will be held Friday at 10 a.m. at O'Bryant O'Keefe Funeral Home with the Revs. Earl Greenough, Gary Knight and Robert Kates officiating. Burial will be in Machpelah Cemetery.
Mr. Smith, 66, of Pascagoula, died Tuesday, Feb. 6, 2001, in Pascagoula. He was born on June 25, 1934, in Meridian and was a resident of Pascagoula for 38 years. Mr. Smith retired after 26 years in the program department at Ingalls Shipbuilding. He was a member of First United Methodist Church, Masonic Lodge and Jackson County Airport Authority.
Survivors include his wife of 40 years, Fayne Smith of Pascagoula; two brothers, James C. Smith Jr. and his wife, Shirley of South Haven and James E. Smith and his wife, Glenda, of Meridian; and several family members and friends.
Visitation will be today from 6-8 p.m. at the funeral home.
EVELYNA IVY
Services for Evelyna Ivy will be held Saturday at 2 p.m. at Good Hope Methodist Church in Russell with the Rev. Johnny Ivy officiating. Burial will be in the church cemetery with Berry and Gardner Funeral Home in charge of arrangements.
Mrs. Ivy, 70, of Meridian, died Monday, Feb. 5, 2001, at Rush Foundation Hospital.
Survivors include four daughters, Georgia Ann Ivy, Betty Deloise Davis, Peggy May Ivy and Charlene Ivy, all of Meridian; six sons, Joe Lee Ivy, Charles Edward Ivy, Larry Ivy, Raymond Ivy, Jimmy Lee Ivy and Jerry Ivy, all of Meridian; two sisters, Aisis Durr and Elizabeth Durr of Sandusky, Ohio; five brothers, Paul Lanier, Leo Lanier, John Willie Lanier, F. Lee Lanier and Eddie Lanier; all of Sandusky; 21 grandchildren and 27 great-grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Essie Lee Ivy and a son, Fred Lanier.
Visitation will be Friday from 6-7 p.m. at the funeral home.

SAMUEL GORDON
Arrangements were incomplete at Berry and Gardner Funeral Home for Samuel Gordon, 35, who died Saturday, Feb. 3, 2001, in Baltimore, Md.
GEORGE NOVCASKI
Arrangements were incomplete at Stephens Funeral Home for George Novcaski of Biloxi, who died Tuesday, Feb. 6, 2001, in Biloxi.
THOMAS J. SPATES
Arrangements were incomplete at Enterprise Funeral Home for Thomas J. Spates, 78, of Scooba, who died Tuesday, Feb. 6, 2001, in Rush Foundation Hospital.
CLIFFORD HOFFER
Arrangements were incomplete at James F. Webb Funeral Home for Clifford Hoffer, 68, of Meridian, who died Wednesday, Feb. 7, 2001, at Jeff Anderson Regional Medical Center.
