Police seek rape suspect

By By Marianne Todd/The Meridian Star
Jan. 30, 2001
Police are searching for a man who attacked and raped a Meridian woman in her home late Saturday night.
Lt. Wade Johnson said the rape was reported around 11 p.m. As of Monday afternoon, the Meridian Police Department had no suspects and no solid leads, he said.
Johnson said investigators with the department's Criminal Investigations Division are trying to work out the details of the crime.
Johnson said the woman was transported to a local hospital, treated for injuries and released. Investigators are viewing the invasion and rape as an isolated incident, he said.
Initial reports indicated the break-in occurred in an affluent area of the city, but Johnson would neither confirm or deny the report.
Johnson said investigators are not releasing a description of the culprit.
Anyone with information can call either the Criminal Investigations Division at 485-1859 or CrimeStoppers at 485-1860.
Callers do not have to identify themselves, he said.
