Construction of a new Wal-Mart Supercenter could begin as soon as Monday, according to the property developers.
W.G. Yates and Sons Construction of Philadelphia was awarded the contract to build the facility.
Dirt work and other road improvements have been made near the store's location on Frontage Road during the past few months, in order to accommodate what is expected to be a large increase in traffic once the store opens.
Flowers said he anticipates the store opening its doors around the beginning of August.
He said progress is also being made on the proposed Lowe's Home Center. Developers announced last summer that a Lowe's would be located next to the Wal-Mart Supercenter.
The Wal-Mart Supercenter store is expected to be about 204,000 square feet. Once it opens, the Bonita Lakes Wal-Mart will close and the staff will be transferred to the new store.
