Two Lauderdale County boys are in custody today after a homeowner walked through his front door in time to see them running out his back door with some stolen property.
Lauderdale County Chief Deputy Mike Mitchell said the boys, ages 15 and 16, confessed to the burglary at 6434A Carl Price Road, the burglary of the same home about two months earlier and an attempted burglary at a nearby home.
Mitchell said the boys were caught after the homeowner called 911.
Mitchell said the boys dropped weapons they had allegedly stolen from the home as they ran through nearby woods. Investigators were able to confiscate all the stolen property, he said.
The boys are charged with two counts of burglary of a dwelling and one count of attempted burglary each. More charges are expected as the boys are suspected in several other area burglaries, Mitchell said.
The boys, who are being charged as juveniles, were transported to the Lauderdale County Juvenile Center Thursday afternoon.
