The homestanding Enterprise Bulldogs used their speed and timely shooting to take a 63-50 decision over the visiting Lake Hornets in Tuesday night prep basketball action.
The Bulldogs were without star shooting sensation Corey Boggan because of flu-like symptoms. Boggan had been averaging 26 points per game for Enterprise this season.
The first quarter of action showed very little offense. The Hornets did however hold a 14-13 lead after a quarter of play. Burrell Gandy paced the Bulldogs in the first half with 14 points to keep his team in the game.
Lake held a slim 26-25 lead at the halftime break with a huge second half to come for EHS. Enterprise outscored the Hornets 27-11 to take a 52-37 at the end of the third quarter.
Mitchell Burns and Bryan Bester keyed the huge run for the Bulldogs to take the large lead.
The Hornets never came close down the stretch as EHS secured the win.
Gandy finished the game with 22 points and Burns chipped in 17 points in the win for EHS, who improved to 8-11 overall on the season. Bester also had 17 points and Don Moore added five for the Bulldogs. Enterprise returns to action Friday night when it hosts Seminary in a key Division 7-2A match.
Lake girls 53, Enterprise 35: Bill Inqersoll could only be pleased as his Lady Hornets took a convincing 53-35 win over the young Lady Bulldogs of Enterprise.
The Lady Hornets took a 17-6 lead after the first quarter and never looked back in the win over Enterprise.
Enterprise went on a huge downfall in the second quarter with 11 turnovers that allowed Lake to take a 37-16 lead into halftime.
Lake continued its shooting spree in the second half to take the Lady Hornets to victory.
Odena Cox had 14 points in the win for Lake and Kimyatta Viverette finished with 11 points. Roxana Rogers also chipped in six for Lake. Jerra Cook lead the Lady Bulldogs in scoring with 12 points. Shonda Bester and Kacey Jimmerson both had six points in the losing effort for Enterprise. Lake improved to 18-3 overall, while Enterprise dropped to 3-17 on the season.
