East Mississippi Community College head coach Steve Hull has said all along that he wanted his team to put itself in a position to pick up some big wins late in the season.
Monday night at Scooba, Hull's Lions got one of those wins.
Despite trailing by seven points at halftime, East Mississippi's men rallied to knock off Northwest Mississippi Community College 79-77 in North Division junior college basketball action.
EMCC's women were not as fortunate, losing a 108-84 shootout to the visiting Lady Rangers.
In the men's game, Northwest led 33-26 at halftime, only to see homestanding EMCC erupt for 53 points in the second half as the Lions improved to 10-7 overall.

Northwest lost despite placing five players in double figures.
In the women's game, EMCC fell behind 50-39 at halftime, and lost despite a game-high 30 points from former Meridian High School standout Kim Davis.
