A history of MMA T-shirts

Behind every great organization are individuals who have contributed to its success. On Saturday, supporters of Meridian Museum of Art will be honored during the annual Membership Gala.
Scheduled from 6 to 8 p.m., the gala is a special event that combines the reception for the Museum Members Show with a program to honor its members and recognize the people who have helped to build the Museum over the past 30-plus years.
This year's program, which will start at 6:45 p.m., will include:
Special recognition of the artists who have designed the Museum's T-shirt over the years: Clo Ann Rabb, Patricia Kent, Jeff Shaw, Les Green and Terry Cherry.
The unveiling of the museum's 2001 T-shirt, featuring the artwork of John Marshall.
The honoring of the museum's 2000 Volunteer of the Year: Sylvia Follis.
Follis is a long-time museum member; a past and present member of the board of directors; an artist who has given her time, talent, and artwork; a volunteer for countless events and programs; a teacher in the Museum School; chair and instructor for the crafts workshops program for children; and a founding member and president of MMA's Artists Group.
Live music for the event will be provided by saxophonist Julian Sparacino. The Membership Gala is open to the public and there is no charge to attend.
Meridian Museum of Art is located at 625 25th Ave. Regular museum hours are 1-5 p.m., Tuesday-Sunday. For more information, call 693-1501.
