COLLINSVILLE The West Lauderdale Knights manufactured an 8-0 shutout over the Clarkdale Bulldogs in a muddy, rainy slopfest Thursday night.
The conditions took much of the skill out of a contest that was played on the Clarkdale end for much of the second half. The 9th-ranked Knights (8-0-2, 7-0 in Division IV) forged a 3-0 lead at the half.
Scoring goals for the Knights was Josh Murphy with two, Brandon Rodgers, David Jeter, Justin Daniels, Will Moseley, Kris Shaulis and Chance Keely.
Clarkdale coach Mark Taylor also praised the Knights' efforts.
In the end, it was all in fun, as both West and CHS players took turns doing bellyflops into the mud and water.
A big pride game looms for West on Saturday, as the Meridian Wildcats travel to Collinsville to take on West Lauderdale.
Clarkdale (9-4) travels to Newton County Tuesday.
