Meridian High girls and boys soccer teams both scored wins Friday night by dispatching with the St. Andrews Saints at Ray Stadium.
In the opener, Pat Ross' Lady Cats shut out the Lady Saints 5-0.
Erin Brown had a pair of goals and Julie Pollman also found the back of the net, as MHS led 3-0 at halftime.
I thought (St. Andrews) was real skilled. They passed the ball really well," Ross said. "But our midfield and defense outplayed them. We got two or three real solid scoring runs to finish off goals Overall, it was a pretty good effort."
Deanna Harris and Catherine Bryan also scored to help the Lady Cats run their record to (11-2). Both squads host the Wayne County War Eagles Monday beginning at 5:30 p.m.
Meridian boys 4, St. Andrews 1: The Wildcats (7-9-1, 2-0 in 5-5A) got a pair of goals in the second half from Andrew Gambrell to easily handle the Saints.
Peter Davidson and Benji Ware assisted on first half goals by Jonathan Davis and Robert Barr. Leslie Rush assisted on the first Gambrell score.
The Saints scored midway through the first half on a penalty kick. Otherwise, MHS didn't face a shot on goal.
