Choctaw Central girls coast to win

Choctaw Central's girls jumped out to a big lead early over Carthage and handed the Lady Tigers a 59-31 defeat in area high school basketball action from late Tuesday.
The Lady Warriors, who are now 17-3 on the season, got a game-high 13 points from Deaundrea Johnson.
Crystal Lewis threw in seven points for Choctaw, while Melinda Ben scored six. A total of 13 Lady Warriors scored in the win.
Philadelphia boys 70, B.L. Moor 41: The Tornadoes got 21 points from sophomore Rashawn Hill as they knocked off the Eagles in Division 5-2A action.
Keith Houston added 18 points for Philadelphia, which is now 13-8. Hunter Holley chipped in six.
Chris Jones led Moor High with 13 points as the Eagles fell to 1-14.
Philadelphia girls 54, B.L. Moor 38: The Lady Tornadoes also picked up a division win behind 16 points from Shekara Young.
Kedria Watson threw in 11 points for Philadelphia, which got nine from Danielle Jones and seven from Jessica Clemons.
Jonetta Bradford led 2-13 Moor High with 15 points.
Louisville boys 75, Noxubee County 74: The Wildcats ran their record to 13-5 on the season by knocking off Division 2-4A rival Noxubee County in non-division action.
Andre Coleman scored a game-high 22 points to lead Louisville, while Bryant Thomas pitched in 11.
Noxubee, which fell to 10-10, was led by Reginald Roby's 15 points. Terrance Boykin scored 14, Obryant Brandy had 14, Antoine Cooper scored 13 and Brandon Tate 12.
Noxubee County girls 76, Louisville 39: The Tigerettes whipped the homestanding Lady Wildcats with surprising ease behind a game-high 25 points from Shawnequa Rucker.
Noxubee, which is now 17-4, also got 23 points from Erlexis Cooper and eight from Tiffany Murray.
Louisville fell to 10-4 despite 23 points from Shaneaka Cistrunk.
Neshoba Central boys 72, Kosciusko 55: The Rockets won their fourth straight, improving to 13-6 with a win at division rival Kosy.
Tavares Walker put up 17 points and Tawon Walker added 14 to lead Neshoba. Sharpshooter Chris Owen threw in 12 points.
Ken Speight scored 21 points and Robert Harmon had 16 for Kosciusko, as the Whippets fell to 9-9.
Pelahatchie boys 60, Lake 46: The Hornets saw their record fall to 2-14 on the season despite 17 points from Neal Tadlock, who shared game-high honors with a trio of Chiefs from Pelahatchie.
Lagermany Johnson, Steven Johnson and Kingi McNair all scored 17 for Pelahatchie.
Leroy Anderson added 10 points in a losing cause for the Hornets.
Lake girls 56, Pelahatchie 43: Kimyatta Viverette scored a game-high 16 points for the Lady Hornets, who continued to roll with a tough win over Pelahatchie.
Lake, which is now 15-3 on the season, also got 10 points from Odena Cox.
Leake Academy boys 74, East Rankin 66: Derek Freeny tossed in 18 points to lead the Rebels to an Academy 3-AA division win over East Rankin.
Jay Gulley also scored 18 for Leake, which had four players in double figures. Drew Wolverton scored 15 and Luke Culpepper added 14.
Steven Boozer led East Rankin with 22 points, while Beau Varner had 12.
Leake Academy girls 82, East Rankin 32: Lauren Goss scored a game-high 19 points and freshman post player Kristin Caldwell added 16 as Doyle Wolverton's Rebelettes whipped East Rankin.
Marissa Henry added 15 points for Leake, while Sue Chennault scored 11 and B.J. Helton had seven.
Leslie Robinson had a team-best 11 points for East Rankin, which fell to 6-9.
