Despite not reaching their lofty goal of saving 2,000 souls in the year 2000, members of Love City Fellowship Church say they will continue their soul-searching efforts in 2001.
After saving 777 people last year, Love City Fellowship Pastor Lamorris Richardson characterized the drive as successful but said it will continue until 2,000 people are saved.
One aspect of the congregation's drive was a program called "Just One," in which every church member was responsible for bringing just one person to Christ during the year 2000. Richardson said the "Just One" program was a big success.
Richardson said he believes there has been a religious awakening recently, and that his congregation can capitalize on it to reach more people.
The spiritual seeds Richardson's congregation has been trying to plant in people has sprouted growth in membership for the congregation.
Part of Love City Fellowship's campaign might even spark greater growth in Mississippi, according to Richardson. The church has made pilgrimages to DeKalb and Brandon where they anticipate new congregations will emerge soon.
