Danielle Smith is only a freshman, but she's got a bright future ahead of her. Smith pulled a hat trick on Friday night to lead Northeast Lauderdale to a 6-1 victory over Clarkdale in prep soccer action.
Northeast coach Charles Coleman realizes the value that Smith brings to the team.
Smith's first goal came in the first half along with shots by Elyse Parker and Melissa Brents to give the Lady Trojans a 3-0 lead at the half.
The Lady Bulldogs rebounded at the beginning of the second half on a shot by Morgan Wright. It was Clarkdale's only shot on goal all night.
Northeast wasn't finished as Parker and Smith found the back of the net three more times to give the Lady Trojans the win.
Clarkdale will play South Jones on January 16, while Northeast (7-2-2) will host Hattiesburg on Tuesday night.
Northeast boys 5, Clarkdale 0: Kyle Stoddard scored three goals, while Brian Stringer and Drew Smith contributed one goal apiece to give Northeast Lauderdale a 5-0 victory over the visiting Clarkdale Bulldogs on Friday night.
Smith scored the first half's only goal. Clarkdale, who was playing without the services of two players involved in a car crash early Friday, only had 11 shots at the goal all night.
Chase Spencer recorded the shut out for the Trojans (7-3) who will host Hattiesburg on Tuesday.
