A Marion police officer was hospitalized and in stable condition Saturday after suffering a blow to the head while answering a disturbance call earlier in the day.
Reports said Marion Officer Daryl Hobson was being treated for a concussion. He was injured after answering a domestic disturbance call at a mobile home just off Confederate Drive about 4 p.m.
Calhoun said sheriff's deputies had been sent as backup for Marion police, and Lauderdale County Deputy John Calhoun was also present at the time of the incident.
Deputy Calhoun reportedly received some cuts and scrapes during the chase, but was not seriously injured, Maj. Calhoun said.
Sheriff's deputies charged 26-year-old Dan E. Person Jr., P.O. Box 215, Marion, with disorderly conduct in the incident. Also taken into custody were Cora L. Brown, 43, of 6441 Chickasaw St., and Calvin Person, 24, P.O. Box 215, Marion. Brown was charged with failure to produce identification, disorderly conduct, resisting arrest and public profanity.
