OXFORD Services for Pauline Holcomb Moody will be held today at 2 p.m. at Waller Funeral Home chapel with the Rev. Marjorie Buckley officiating. Burial will be in Oxford Memorial Cemetery.
Mrs. Moody, 94, of Oxford, died Saturday, Dec. 23, 2000, at Baptist Memorial Hospital.
Survivors include a daughter, Edna Goldman of Meridian; three grandchildren and five great-grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Joe H. Moody.
Visitation will be today from 1 p.m.-2 p.m. at the funeral home.
LINNIE RHALY DANNER
Retired educator
Services for Linnie Rhaly Danner were held Saturday at 2:30 p.m. at Barham Funeral Home chapel with Dr. David J. Wood officiating. Burial was in Magnolia Cemetery.
Ms. Danner, 95, of Meridian, died Friday, Dec. 22, 2000, at King's Daughters and Sons Rest Home. The retired educator was a member of Trinity Presbyterian Church. She was a native of Lauderdale had served as an instructor at Meridian Junior College from 1965 to 1967. She had previously served as principal at Livorno American Elementary School, Garmisch American Elementary and Junior High School and Worms American Elementary School and as a teacher at Kaiserslautern American Elementary School in Apo, N.Y. Before moving to New York, Ms. Danner served twice as principal at Clark Elementary School for a total of seven years, having left the country for one year to teach at American dependent schools in Tokyo, Japan. She had previously served as a teacher at Chalk Elementary School for a number of years and was a teacher at other Meridian and Lauderdale County schools. During her tenure as a teacher in Lauderdale County, she worked for Meridian and Lauderdale County public schools. She also served as a teacher at Lamar County Schools in Purvis and Hintonville School in Hintonville.
She was a graduate of the University of Southern Mississippi, George Peabody College for Teachers in Nashville, Tenn., the American University in Washington, D.C., the University of Mississippi in University, the University of Colorado in Boulder, Colo. and the University of Maryland's Overseas Branch in Apo, N.Y.
She was a member of National Education Association, the Department of Classroom Teachers, the Mississippi Education Association, Meridian Teachers Association, where she served on the Executive and Legislative committees. She was also a member of many other professional and religious organizations and had traveled extensively.
Survivors include a sister, Margaret Danner Long of Meridian; seven nephews, T.E. "Ed" Allen of Meridian, Danner Null of Lauderdale, Thomas Danner Jr. of Tuscaloosa, Ala., Harvey Danner Jr., of Blowingrock, N.C., Bill Short of Jackson, John Short of San Antonio, Texas, and Curtis Short of Orlando, Fla.; four nieces, Elizabeth Pratt of Meridian, Mrs. William L. Milton of Pelham, Ala., Mrs. Aaron Lowery of Louisville and Brend Kirby of Tuscaloosa; and a number of great nieces and nephews.
ROYCE HOMER VANCE

Services for Royce Homer Vance will be held Tuesday at 2 p.m. at Barham Funeral Home chapel with the Revs. Ben Dunnagan and Allen Singletary officiating. Burial will be in Forest Lawn Cemetery.
Mr. Vance, 75, of Meridian, died Friday, Dec. 22, 2000, at Beverly Broadmoor Health Care. He had retired in 1988 from the U.S. Postal Service, where he had worked since 1957. He was born in Newton County and was a graduate of Conehatta High School, where he played basketball. He was a member and elder of Jones Memorial Presbyterian Church and was a veteran of World War II, having served in the U.S. Army. He received the Purple Heart during his service to his country.
Survivors include his wife of 55 years, Angeline Vance of Meridian; two daughters, Betty Lynn Harpe and her husband, E.C., of Florence, and Dianne Waldron and her husband, Charles, of St. Louis, Mo.; six grandchildren, Spencer Harpe, Philip Waldron, Vance Waldron, Tracy Harpe, Adam Waldron and Carrie Waldron; a brother, B. Coyte Vance and his wife, Adell, of Richland; and other nieces and nephews.
The family requests memorials be made to Jones Memorial Presbyterian Church or to the Alzheimer's Disease Foundation.
Visitation will be Monday from 5 p.m.-8 p.m. at the funeral home.
Pallbearers include Grady Gatlin, Jimmy Taylor, Rush Shumate, Jerry Snell, Kevin Vance and Alan Flint. Honorary pallbearers include postal service workers and Beverly Broadmoor Health Care employees.
BONNIE RUTH SHEPHERD

PHILADELPHIA Services for Bonnie Ruth Shepherd will be held today at 2 p.m. at McClain-Hays Funeral Service chapel with Dr. Dan Howard officiating. Burial will be in Coldwater Cemetery.
Mrs. Shepherd, 97, of Philadelphia, died Friday, Dec. 22, 2000, at Neshoba County Nursing Home.
Survivors include four daughters, Neda Byars, Syble McNair, Vivian Hardy and Brenda Sims, all of Philadelphia; two sons, Thomas Ray Shepherd of McComb and Dwight Shepherd of Charleston; a sister, Gladys Winkler of Brandon; 12 grandchildren and 20 great-grandchildren.
LETA JANE ROBERSON
QUITMAN Services for Leta Jane "Janie" Roberson will be held Tuesday at 11 a.m. at Water Valley Pentecostal Church with the Revs. Buddy Braddock, John Edwards and Larry Browning officiating. Burial will be in the church cemetery with Wright's Funeral Home in charge of arrangements.
Mrs. Roberson, 82, of Meridian, died Saturday, Dec. 23, 2000, at Queen City Nursing Home in Meridian.
Survivors include her husband, Millage Theo Roberson of Meridian; a son, Willie Roberson and his wife, Joyce, of Enterprise; a daughter, Doris Hopkins and her husband, Warnie, of Quitman; a brother, Harvey Thomas of Bakersville, Calif.; three sisters, Lula Belle Shirley of Crestview, Fla., Eula Mae Smith of Quitman and Mary McKinley of Florence; nine grandchildren and 10 great-grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by a daughter, Ruth Carolyn Church.
Visitation will be Monday from 5 p.m.-8 p.m. at the funeral home and Tuesday from 10:30 a.m. until services at the church.
ROBERT EUGENE WHITEHEAD
Services for Robert Eugene Whitehead will be held Tuesday at 11:30 a.m. at James F. Webb Funeral Home chapel with the Rev. Everett Bonner officiating. Burial will be in Macedonia Cemetery.
Mr. Whitehead, 50, of Meridian, died Friday, Dec. 22, 2000, at his residence.
Survivors include his mother, Claudie Elois Whitehead of Meridian; a brother, Bruce Whitehead; and two daughters, Bobbie Jo Whitehead and Rachel Whitehead, both of Slidell, La.
Visitation will be Monday from 5 p.m.-8 p.m. at the funeral home.
