Wesley House: Last-minute help needed to make a joyful Christmas morning

By Staff
Dec. 22, 2000
As Christmas Day approaches, one of our community's most visible and effective outreach programs and there are many  needs just a little more help. One more last-minute burst of community generosity will help Wesley House make a joyful Christmas morning in hundreds of needy households.
Wesley House's Christmas clearinghouse ministry has become an essential element in the lives of so many abused and neglected children and their families. And, already during this season of giving, many, many people in the nine-county area served by this ministry have demonstrated their concern and commitment to help. It is greatly appreciated.
Today, just three days before Christmas, Wesley House is still short of toys, food and love gifts of money to tend to the necessary needs. At this time, area merchants are willing to sell items to Wesley House at bulk rate prices, but money is needed to make it happen.
Wesley House operates 31 programs serving abused children and their families, counseling for family members of homicide victims, medical services to uninsurable people in this community and a variety of other services. The success of these programs have always depended on the charity and concern of more fortunate members of our community and we have always come through.
Today, another opportunity exists. Donations of money, toys and food items are still being accepted at Wesley House, 1520 8th Avenue. For specific requests, call 485-4736.
It isn't too late to make a difference.
