Local businesses giving back

By By Ben Alexander/The Meridian Star
Dec. 10, 2000
Although many may prefer a suit to a Santa Clause costume, local businessmen and women are still spreading their own brand of holiday cheer by way of the Salvation Army's Angel Tree program.
Dozens of businesses around Lauderdale County and Meridian have been generous this year putting up the trees, according to Salvation Army officials.
Reynolds said she has been very pleased with the support employees from Rush have shown the program in the hospital's first year to participate. The hospital was sent 40 children's wish lists to begin with and those have already been adopted.
But not just large corporations or businesses are making this year's Angel Tree program so successful. Small businesses have been making an impact as well.
However, Reynolds said putting up an Angel Tree isn't the only way to help the Salvation Army with the program. Rush employees have also volunteered their time to help the organization.
