Get into the Christmas spirit by attending one of these holiday displays and performances.
Tonight
UNION Dr. John DeChairo, professor of guitar music at the University of Southern Mississippi, will perform Christmas music on guitar tonight, at 7 p.m., at Union United Methodist Church. Admission is free.
Sunday, Dec. 24
A Candlelight Christmas Eve Service will be held at Poplar Springs Drive Baptist Church Sunday at 9 p.m. The public is invited to celebrate the birth of our Savior. Childcare will be provided.
St. Paul United Methodist Church invites the public to their Gospel Christmas Eve service Sunday at 6 p.m. Come and witness "What's in the Manger?," a skit musical production portraying the birth of Christ, under the direction of Jonas Crenshaw Jr. The church is located at 2705 13th St. in Meridian.
Through Sunday, Dec. 24
PENNINGTON, Ala. The outdoor lighting display "Trinity Christmasland" will be presented at Trinity United Methodist Church, from 6-9 p.m. nightly, through Dec. 24. A live Santa and Mrs. Claus will be visiting and hot chocolate will be served. For more information, call Mary Faile at (205) 654-2473.
Friday, Dec. 29
The Isaac's and Liberty Quartet will be in concert Dec. 29, at 7 p.m., at The Evangel Temple. The church is located on Highway 45 South. For more information, call 693-1913.
Saturday, Dec. 30
LAKE The Freemans, Hosanna, Carole Gaddis, Renee Gibbs and The Gibbs Family will be in concert Dec. 30, at 6 p.m., at The Sanctuary. Admission is free, however a donation of $7 is requested. A love offering will be taken. The Sanctuary is located at 1197 Old 80 Road. For more information, call (601) 775-3467.
LAUDERDALE The Clouds of Joy and other groups will be preforming Dec. 30, at 7:30 p.m., at Mount Carmel Baptist Church. The public is invited to attend and share the birth of Christ in song and praise.
Sunday, Dec. 31
The First Apostolic Church family will host a "Count Down 2001" watch night celebration on Sunday, Dec. 31, at 7 p.m. There will be a foot-washing ceremony, communion and a praise and worship service. The guest speaker will be evangelist Easter Robertson of New Jerusalem Church of Shuqualak.
